What is a grazing box? How many people will it feed?
A grazing box is a curated combination of charcuterie (meats), cheeses, crackers, nuts, pickles, fruits, veggies, dips, spreads, sweets, and more. The contents are designed to hit every craving in one sitting – salty, sour, savory, sweet! Our standard 9″x 9″ box contains three meats, three cheeses, and can serve as a light meal for two people, or an appetizer for a small group. If your box or board is intended to be a full meal, consider selecting the “extra meat and cheese” option on the menu for a hardier portion.
How many guests a box or board feeds is a tricky question, as it depends on hunger levels and the way it is served – as a meal or just a light graze. In general, the contents of our boxes and boards are calculated as appetizer portions, unless otherwise specified.
Are you a licensed business?
Yes, in every way! Good Grazes is a registered business in the province of Ontario, and a licensed and inspected food premises in the City of Ottawa. We operate from a commercial kitchen and are fully insured. Our staff are food handler certified by the city, meaning we have completed an official training program required by all legal food businesses that ensures the safe storage, preparation, and delivery of our products. We are also a licensed alcohol delivery service.
When supporting local, be sure to also support legitimate businesses. Home-based hobby food businesses have been on the rise during the pandemic but do not adhere to Ottawa Public Health standards that keep everyone safe and healthy. They pull much-needed revenue from legitimate small businesses who incur heavy overhead costs like permits, licensing, and insurance, and rely on community support for their livelihood. When trying a new local food spot, always confirm that they operate from a commercial kitchen that has been approved by the City of Ottawa.
While we do have a physical location you can visit to pick up your order, we consider ourselves a “ghost kitchen.” This term is used to describe professional food preparation and cooking facilities set up for the preparation of delivery-only meals. We aren’t quite a restaurant, and we don’t have a retail space (yet!) and work almost entirely on pre-orders. We’re more like caterers, in fact, which is how this business was originally launched in October 2019.
Can I customize my order?
Absolutely. All of our grazing boxes and boards are made to order, so please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions. Although we can omit certain items from your order, we cannot guarantee no contact or no traces of common allergens such as peanuts, gluten, etc.
Do you deliver? What is the delivery process like?
We deliver all across Ottawa, up to 25 km from our location. Your delivery fee will be automatically calculated based on your distance from our shop. You can also pickup from our location at 5510 Canotek Road, unit 4. We offer two time-slots for delivery (morning or afternoon) and pickup is available all throughout the day until 4pm.
Our delivery drivers will always attempt a face-to-face (masked!) confirmation that you’ve received your order. If the driver has arrived within your preferred time-frame and there is no answer at the door, the order will be left in a safe and visible spot for you. If your order contains alcohol, we require a direct hand-off to a recipient over 19 years of age. Failed alcohol deliveries cannot be left unattended and will be returned to our shop for pickup.
Can I eat my order the next day?
Our grazing boxes and boards are at their best on the day they’re prepared, and we strongly recommend eating or serving it the day you receive it. Meats, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables are sliced to order to ensure freshness. If you intend to eat it the next day, we suggest removing the contents and wrapping them individually to prevent meats from drying out, crackers from absorbing moisture from the fruit, etc.
Although a grazing box is designed to be a self-contained snacking bonanza, too much time spent in an enclosed space will cause some of the food items’ flavours to affect one another. Nobody wants salami-flavoured chocolate almonds, so enjoy your grazing box on day one for the best possible experience!
What methods of payment do you accept?
Our online checkout system accepts all major credit cards. You can also select e-transfer at checkout and you'll be asked to send your total to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your order will be confirmed and scheduled once payment is received.
We will soon be accepting debit at our location for pick-ups. Stay tuned!
Can I send a grazing box to someone other than myself?
Absolutely! Grazing makes a great gift! To send an order to someone else, simply add their name and address under the delivery/shipping section of the online checkout. You can also add champagne, desserts, a re-usable artisanal wooden charcuterie board, and a greeting card.
Although everyone loves a surprise, we recommend letting the recipient know when the order will be arriving so they can be home to accept it.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! Digital gift cards can be purchased from our online shop. The entire process is contactless, and you can even add them to your Apple Wallet! After purchase, the gift card will be automatically emailed to you, for you to forward to your recipient
Digital gift cards that were issued before our move to the new website are still valid - simply enter the original coupon code at checkout.
Do you offer event catering?
Yes! Good Grazes was originally launched in October 2019 as a catering company, creating beautiful and delicious grazing tables at events of all kinds. We’ve catered weddings, showers, memorial services, birthdays, and more.
When gathering and grazing in groups became a no-no, we shifted our focus to charcuterie and grazing in a box, delivered directly to our customers. And that’s where we are today! As government restrictions about groups are lifted, we are excited to re-launch our catering services, with health and safety precautions in place to keep everyone safe.
