FAQs

Do you deliver? What is the delivery process like? What about pickup?

We deliver in the Ottawa/Gatineau region, up to 45 km from our location. Your delivery fee will be automatically calculated based on your distance from our shop. You can also pickup from our location at 5510 Canotek Road, unit 4. We offer delivery from 9am to 1pm from Wednesday to Sunday. FREE PICKUP is always available throughout the day at your desired time slot, chosen at checkout.

Our delivery drivers will always attempt a direct confirmation that you’ve received your order. If the driver has arrived within the standard delivery time-frame and there is no answer at the door, the order will be left in a safe and visible spot for you. If your order contains alcohol, we require a direct hand-off to a recipient over 19 years of age. Failed alcohol deliveries cannot be left unattended and will be returned to our shop for pickup.

Daily production for pickups and deliveries is carefully scheduled and organized based on customer selections and order volume of the day. Failure to pick up an order during your chosen time-slot may result in nobody being available to give it to you, as we do not have standard retail hours as a ghost kitchen. We may be required to leave for deliveries, or staff may need to close up for the day. A late fee may apply if a staff member is required to return to the shop outside business hours for your pickup. Depending on order volume and schedule, we cannot guarantee that someone will be available to do so. No refunds are given for failed pickups.

What is a grazing box? How many people will it feed?

A grazing box is a curated combination of charcuterie (meats), cheeses, crackers, nuts, pickles, fruits, veggies, dips, spreads, sweets, and more. The contents are designed to hit every craving in one sitting – salty, sour, savory, sweet! Our standard 8″x 8″ box contains three meats, three cheeses, and can serve as a light meal for two people, or an appetizer for a small group. If your box or platter is intended to be a full meal, consider selecting the “extra meat and cheese” option on the menu for a hardier portion.

How many guests a box or platter feeds is a tricky question, as it depends on many factors like hunger levels and the way it is served – as a meal or just a light graze. In general, the contents of our boxes and boards are calculated as appetizer portions, unless otherwise specified. Portion sizing is very subjective, so please refer to product descriptions for sizing info, dimensions, and photos.

Are you a licensed business?

Yes, in every way! Good Grazes is a registered business in the province of Ontario, and a licensed and inspected food premises in the City of Ottawa. We operate from a commercial kitchen and are fully insured. Our staff are food handler certified by the city, meaning we have completed an official training program required by all legal food businesses that ensures the safe storage, preparation, and delivery of our products. We are also a licensed alcohol delivery service.

When supporting local, be sure to also support legitimate businesses. Home-based hobby food businesses have been on the rise in recent years but do not adhere to Ottawa Public Health standards that keep everyone safe and healthy. They pull much-needed revenue from legitimate small businesses who incur heavy overhead costs like permits, licensing, and insurance, and rely on community support for their livelihood. When trying a new local food spot, always confirm that they operate from a commercial kitchen that has been approved by the City of Ottawa.

Where are you located?

Our kitchen is located in unit 4 at 5510 Canotek Road, in Ottawa, Ontario.

While we do have a physical location you can visit to pick up your order, we consider ourselves a “ghost kitchen.” This term is used to describe professional food preparation and cooking facilities set up for the preparation of delivery-only meals. We aren’t quite a restaurant, and we don’t have a retail space (yet!) and work almost entirely on pre-orders. We’re more like caterers, in fact, which is how this business was originally launched in October 2019.

Can I customize my order?

Absolutely. All of our grazing boxes and boards are made to order, so please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions. Although we can omit certain items from your order, we cannot guarantee no contact or no traces of common allergens such as peanuts, gluten, etc.

You can also build your own grazing box or board! Choose your meats, cheeses, and garnishes!

Can I eat my order the next day?

Our grazing boxes and boards are at their best on the day they’re prepared, and we strongly recommend eating or serving it the day you receive it. Meats, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables are sliced to order to ensure freshness. If you intend to eat it the next day, we suggest removing the contents and wrapping them individually to prevent meats from drying out, crackers from absorbing moisture from the fruit, etc.

Although a grazing box is designed to be a self-contained snacking bonanza, too much time spent in an enclosed space will cause some of the food items’ flavours to affect one another. Nobody wants salami-flavoured chocolate almonds, so enjoy your grazing box on day one for the best possible experience! After about 10 hours from preparation, we can no longer guarantee the product's quality and freshness.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Our online checkout system accepts all major credit cards. You can also select e-transfer at checkout and you'll be asked to send your total to info@goodgrazes.ca. Your order will be confirmed and scheduled once payment is received.

Can I send a grazing box to someone other than myself?

Absolutely! Grazing makes a great gift! To send an order to someone else, simply add their name and address under the delivery/shipping section of the online checkout. Don’t forget to add a greeting card!

Although everyone loves a surprise, we recommend letting the recipient know when the order will be arriving so they can be home to accept it. In our experience, surprise deliveries rarely work out - either the recipient is not home to accept, does not open the door, or the food is left outdoors for a prolonged time and spoils, etc.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! Digital gift cards can be purchased from our online shop. The entire process is contactless, and you can even add them to your Apple Wallet! After purchase, the gift card will be automatically emailed to you, for you to forward to your recipient

Digital gift cards that were issued before our move to the new website are still valid - please email info@goodgrazes.ca if you have an older version card and we will update it for you in our new system.

Do you offer event catering?

Yes! Good Grazes was originally launched in October 2019 as a catering company, creating beautiful and delicious grazing tables at events of all kinds. While we have since switched to a drop-off catering model, we are still always catering for weddings, showers, memorial services, birthdays, and more.
